Step 1: Evaluation and Brain Based Action Plan

Your student will begin by taking placement tests in reading comprehension, math, and writing to identify the learning holes they need to fill and skills to strengthen during step 2. The results will be formulated into an individualized Brain Based Action Plan that incorporates your student's learning styles with study and learning skills. Beth will then meet with you to review the Brain Based Action Plan and the goals for step 2.

Step 2: The Summer Work

Using the Brain Based Action Plan from step 1, students will receive instruction based upon brain-based research to help them further develop and retain academic skills in these areas:

  • Reading Comprehension - both fiction and non-fiction - goal is to have a student's comprehension above grade level as far as possible

  • Math - review last year's math and prep for the coming year

  • Writing - sentences, paragraphs, essays, thesis statements and proofreading skills
