Summer is an excellent time for students to reinforce their academic skills. It is a good time to improve the skills or work for maintenance of the skills and prepare for the coming school year.
Courses include Reading Comprehension, Writing and Grammar, Math concepts and calculations, and Multiple Skills. Each course is built on individual learning needs.
Reading Comprehension Course
Work is done to develop comprehension of all required reading materials: fiction, non-fiction, test taking, and reading in math. Making meaning from the words being read is the technique that is emphasized.
Writing Course
Work is done on building of sentences and paragraphs. Then work is done on essay writing including thesis statements. Writing for test taking is included. Techniques for answering short and long answer essay questions are presented.
Math Review and Future Prep Course
Work is done on the review of the math completed for this school year and then work is done on what is coming for the new school year. Math concepts and problem-solving steps are made clear to the student.
Multiple Skill Course
The reading comprehension, writing, and math courses are blended into one course.
